This project brings together a consortium of 8 adult education providers from 7 countries: Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Sweden. Each of these organisations is experienced in basic education and literacy training for adults. Some have helped thousands of adults to reach a level of education adequate for living in a modern society.
Many have developed their own, innovative methods, in order to access groups that so far had not been included. However, all feel that they need new approaches regarding special groups such as defined above as targets/beneficiaries. Developing learning offers for such groups is time-consuming and needs attention. This is not always possible in everyday work. A European cooperation dedicated to developing innovative methods in cooperation with others is therefore a favorable if not necessary environment. It allows the participants to get a broader grasp of the problem through analysing the situation in different countries with different societal conditions. Second, there are already successful approaches in use in various countries that are however unknown in others. Cooperation on this topic internationally offers the opportunity to transfer experience and methods throughout Europe.
Finally, through an European approach, the methods developed will be disseminated more effectively so that they can be used for education offers by a maximal number of fellow organisations.
